No. 8 Virginia 64, Florida State 51: Joe Harris recorded 20 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Cavaliers defeated the Seminoles in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament at Greensboro, N.C.

Anthony Gill contributed 16 points off the bench for top-seeded Virginia (26-6), which will play Pittsburgh in Saturday's semifinals. Malcolm Brogdon added a game-high nine rebounds as the Cavaliers won for the 14th time in their last 15 games.

Okaro White led the way with 17 points and six rebounds for ninth-seed Florida State (19-13), which lost for the third time in three games against Virginia this season. Aaron Thomas chipped in with 13 points and five steals while Ian Miller scored 10 for the Seminoles.

Virginia trailed by as much as four in the first half but scored nine of the final 13 points, including two dunks and a jumper by Gill, to take a 32-27 lead at intermission. White kept the Seminoles in it with 4-of-5 shooting for 13 points in the opening 20 minutes.

The Cavaliers slowly pulled away in the second half and when Harris drained a 3-pointer, followed by four straight points from Darion Atkins, they led 52-37 with 9:51 left. White’s basket pulled Florida State within 61-49 with 3:25 left, but Virginia would not allow the margin to get closer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia reached the ACC semifinals for the first time since 1995 and snapped a four-game losing streak in the tournament. … Florida State’s 7-3 C Boris Bojanovsky, who put up 12 points and 12 boards in the second-round victory over Maryland on Thursday, did not score and grabbed one rebound against Virginia. … The Cavaliers are 19-2 with a halftime lead this season.
