Texas A&M 109, Northwestern State 68: Antwan Space scored a career-high 16 points to lead seven players in double figures as the Aggies destroyed the visiting Demons in the season opener for both teams.

Jalen Jones also recorded 16 points for Texas A&M (1-0) in his first game since transferring from SMU. Tavario Miller added a career-best 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting and Jordan Green notched 15 points of his own while matching a career high with seven assists.

Zeek Woodley scored 13 points to lead Northwestern State (0-1), which managed only 11 assists while committing 18 turnovers. Marvin Frazier added 11 points and Jalan West scored 10 for the Demons, who were dominated on the glass 52-32.

Northwestern State kept it competitive in the early going, staying within 23-14 just past the midway point of the first half before the Aggies exploded for 18 unanswered points - led by six apiece from Space and Peyton Allen - to take control of the game. Green knocked down a 3-pointer in the waning seconds before halftime to send Texas A&M into the locker room with a 55-22 advantage, its biggest lead of the night.

The Aggies didn't let up in the second half, with Allen sinking a 3-pointer on the first possession for the home team to spark an 18-6 run that essentially sealed the Demons' fate. A Frazier 3-pointer early in the second frame was a rare bright spot for Northwestern State, which missed its next 10 attempts from beyond the arc and never showed any sign of creeping back into the game.
