Wofford 55, North Carolina State 54: Justin Gordon scored a layup with 1.9 seconds left and Trevor Lacey’s game winner was ruled to have come too late as the visiting Terriers held on for the upset at Reynolds Coliseum.

Karl Cochran had 14 points and seven rebounds for Wofford (8-2), which rallied from six points down in the final 3:27. Eric Garcia added 10 points and five rebounds for the Terriers.

Lacey scored 18 points to lead the Wolfpack (8-2). Ralston Turner added 11 points and Anthony Barber finished with 10 for North Carolina State.

Lacey’s jumper with 35 seconds left gave N.C. State a one-point lead. Cochran missed on the other end with eight seconds left, but Gordon grabbed the offensive rebound and the Terriers called timeout, setting up Gordon’s go-ahead layup off an assist from Spencer Collins.

Lacey hit a running 3-pointer from the top of the key, eliciting a huge celebration from the bench, but after review it was ruled to have left his hand about one-tenth of a second too late. Lacey had given the Wolfpack a six-point lead with a basket with 3:27 remaining, but the Terriers didn’t go away, scoring seven unanswered points to move back ahead 53-52 on a jumper by Garcia.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Terriers improved to 4-33 against current members of the ACC since the 1995-96 season with their first win against N.C. State in 80 years. … Lacey, who came in leading the team in scoring (16.8) and assists (3.9) and was second in rebounding (5.5), returned after missing Friday’s win against Charleston Southern with an ankle injury. … The Wolfpack fell to 14-1 at Reynolds Coliseum - their previous full-time home - since moving to PNC Arena in 1999.
