ACC opener for the visiting Panthers.

had eight points and three blocked shots off the bench for N.C. State (11-4,
2-0 ACC), which improved to 11-2 at home. The Wolfpack, who also received six

from the field while swatting away nine Pittsburgh shots at the other end of
the floor.

Panthers, who also received 10 points and nine rebounds from leading scorer

the first time in their last seven games.
N.C. State held a 27-22 lead early in the second
half before ripping off an 11-2 run to push its lead to 38-24. Barber’s three-point play with just under seven minutes
remaining gave the Wolfpack their largest lead at 59-38, and the Panthers would
only get as close as 15 the rest of the way.
Pittsburgh jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the game’s
opening 4:30, but N.C. State scored the next 12 points to take the lead for
good. The Panthers hit only two of their first 14 field-goal attempts and
finished the opening half 9-of-30 from the floor as N.C. State blocked six
shots and took a 27-20 advantage into the break.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Ralston and Lacey bounced back
from poor outings against Cincinnati on Tuesday, when they combined to shoot
3-of-12 from the field and score 11 points. … The Panthers fell to 1-10 against
the Wolfpack outside of Pittsburgh. … N.C. State, which entered Saturday’s game
ranked 13th nationally with six blocked shots per game, now has at
least six in nine of its 15 contests this season.
