Miami put six players in double figures with guard Davon Reed leading the Hurricanes with 19 points in a 93-77 win over Louisiana-Lafayette Monday night at Coral Gables, Fla.
The Hurricanes (2-0) built a 20-point lead late in the first half and held off several challenges by the Ragin' Cajuns in the second to post their second victory in four days.
The Cajuns fell to 1-1 with the loss.
Guard Angel Rodriguez scored 18, guard Sheldon McClellan added 16, forward Ivan Cruz Uceda 13, forward Anthony Lawrence 12 and guard Ja'Quan Newton 11 for the Hurricanes, who shot 56.4 percent from the field.
Forward Shawn Long of Louisiana-Lafayette led all scorers with 21 points. The Rajin' Cajuns had four other players in double figures with guard Jay Wright scoring 13 and guard Kasey Shepherd 12. Forwards Bryce Washington 11 and Devonta Walker had 11 each.
Miami led at the break 43-27 and pushed the lead back up to 20 at 56-36 early in the second half.
The Rajin' Cajuns closed to within 12 points at 78-66 before the Hurricanes closed out the game on a 15-7 run.
