Swingman Quincy Ford hit a mid-range jumper at the buzzer to give unranked Northeastern a 78-77 victory over No. 15 Miami on Friday afternoon at Coral Gables, Fla.

Ford's basket capped a season-high 24-point performance for the senior and overcame a basket by guard Sheldon McClellan that had given the Hurricanes (5-1) a 77-76 lead with just 15.6 seconds remaining.

The visiting Huskies (5-1) put on a spectacular 3-point shooting show, canning 12 of their 22 attempts from behind arc in leading for most of the game, including a 13-point cushion in the first half.

The Hurricanes cut that deficit to 35-30 by the halftime break and took their first lead with just under eight minutes left in the game 58-56 on guard Angel Rodriguez' corner 3-pointer. They led 70-63 with 4:23 left before the Huskies went on an 11-2 run to regain the lead at 74-72 with under a minute left.

The Huskies led by four with just 35 seconds remaining but a Miami 3-pointer by guard Davon Reed cut it to one and then the Huskies threw the ball away to give Miami its final opportunity

Northeastern received 21 points from guard David Walker.

Reed led Miami with 19 points and McClellan ended with 18.
