No. 25 Baylor had no problem with Prairie View A&M, pulling away from the overmatched Panthers early en route to an 80-41 victory on Wednesday at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.
The Bears (5-1) led 50-18 at the 11:47 mark of the second half and were never challenged.
Forward Johnathan Motley came off the bench to lead Baylor with 23 points, and forward Rico Gathers added 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Bears, who won their 29th straight non-conference home game. It was Gathers' 27th career double-double, tying him for second-most in school history.
Baylor's defense limited Prairie View A&M to 11 field goals and 23.4-percent shooting from the floor. Guard Tevin Bellinger led the struggling Panthers (0-7) with 15 points.
The Bears put this one away quickly, holding the Panthers to just three field goals in the first half and taking a 35-15 lead into intermission. Motley had eight points in the first half to lead the Bears.
Baylor had 24 assists to Prairie View A&M's seven and outrebounded the Panthers 42-25.
