Forward Devin Williams scored 26 points in 24 minutes and No. 20 West Virginia forced 31 turnovers while shredding Kennesaw State 87-54 on Saturday at Morgantown, W.Va.
Forward Jonathan Holton added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Mountaineers, who built a double-digit lead in the first seven minutes and led 41-24 at half in a runaway.
Though West Virginia (7-0) made only 15 of 29 free throws, it mattered little against the Owls (2-8), picked to finish last in the Atlantic Sun. The Mountaineers shot 52.3 percent from the floor and recorded assists on 23 of their 34 baskets.
Guard Kendrick Ray scored 23 points before becoming one of three Kennesaw State players to foul out.
Williams grabbed nine boards, narrowly missing his sixth double-double and helping West Virginia to a 40-27 edge.
