Texas guard Javan Felix hit a jumper at the buzzer and the Longhorns upset third-ranked North Carolina 84-82 on Saturday at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

Longhorns guard Isaiah Taylor got his own rebound and hit a jumper just outside the lane with 27 seconds left to put Texas ahead by two.

But North Carolina forward Brice Johnson answered with a jumper on the other end to tie it at 82 with eight seconds remaining.

After Taylor missed a shot to put the Longhorns (6-3) back in the lead, Felix grabbed the rebound with time running out and released the ball just before the buzzer sounded.

Felix scored 25 points to lead Texas, while Taylor finished with 18. Guard Eric Davis Jr. pitched in 16 and center Cameron Ridley added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Guard Marcus Paige scored 20 to lead the Tar Heels (7-2). Forward Justin Jackson had 15, and Johnson and forward Isaiah Hicks each scored 14.

North Carolina scored the first seven points and threatened throughout the first half to gain some separation. Jackson went to the hoop for a dunk on an assist from guard Nate Britt that put the Tar Heels ahead 43-35 with 1:39 left in the half.

Jackson scored 13 to lead North Carolina in the first 20 minutes.

However, Texas consistently came back and closed the Tar Heels' lead to two by halftime when Davis banked in a jumper at the first-half buzzer.

Felix, who hit three of four 3-pointers in the first half, and Davis each had 11 at the break to lead Texas.

The Tar Heels led by as many as five in the second half but couldn't pull away.

Texas outrebounded North Carolina 36-27.
