Freshman forward Ethan Happ and junior guard Bronson Koenig each scored 15 points, boosting Wisconsin in its 64-49 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday night at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.

Happ's performance occurred one day after he missed practice due to an illness.

Junior forward Vitto Brown chipped in 12 points and had a career-high 16 rebounds as the Badgers (7-5) snapped a two-game losing streak on their home court. Wisconsin halted Corpus Christi's six-game winning streak.

The Badgers persevered despite an abysmal shooting effort to start the game. Wisconsin missed its first 10 shot attempts, with junior forward Nigel Hayes breaking the drought on a layup at the 14-minute mark of the first.

Junior forward Rashawn Thomas and senior guard Hameed Ali contributed 12 points apiece for the Islanders, who also struggled shooting out of the gate. Corpus Christi (7-3) shot 26.7 percent (8-for-30) from the field in the first half.

Thomas dealt with foul trouble throughout the game, sitting the final 5:33 of the first with three fouls. Thomas, the Islanders' leading scorer at 16.2 points per game, was back on the bench with his fourth foul midway through the second half.

Ali sat with four fouls with 8:13 to go as Wisconsin extended its lead.

The Badgers wound up shooting 45.5 percent from the floor, hitting 20 of their last 34 attempts.
