Florida guard KeVaughn Allen paced a balanced and unselfish attack, helping the Gators cruise past Jacksonville 89-65 Tuesday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla.
Four Florida starters finished in double figures, led by Allen's 15 points. Center John Egbunu finished with 14 points, forward Dorian Finney-Smith scored 13 points, and Devin Robinson added 12 points. The Gators had 19 assists, seven from guard Chris Chiozza.
Florida led 39-31 at halftime, behind 12 points from Egbunu. The Gators shot 52.9 percent from the floor in the first half and put away the Dolphins (5-8) the second half.
Finney-Smith scored five straight points, including a 3-pointer that put the Gators up 67-42 with 9:14 to play.
Florida, under first-year coach Mike White, bounced back from consecutive losses to Miami and Michigan State with wins over Oklahoma State and Jacksonville. The Gators (8-3) host Florida State on Dec. 29.
Guard Kori Babineaux led Jacksonville with 17 points, and forward Darius Dawkins added 16 points for the Dolphins.
Florida guard Zach Hodskins, who was born with only one hand, scored the first points of his Gators career late in the game.
