The Iowa Hawkeyes rebounded from their first defeat by downing the Texas-Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros 95-67 on Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Getting Iowa (3-1) going from the opening tip was Peter Jok. Coming off a career-high 30-point performance against Seton Hall, the senior guard scored 13 of the Hawkeyes' first 20 points on the afternoon and finished with 27 points that came on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-8 from behind the 3-point line.

Despite jumping out to a big lead in the first half, Iowa had a field goal drought of 6:20 that helped allow the Vaqueros (0-4) to cut the Hawkeyes lead down to 33-28. But Iowa responded by outscoring the Vaqueros 13-5 over the final 4:02 of the half to take a 46-33 lead with it into halftime.

From there, the Hawkeyes continued imposing their will and used an 11-0 run during the second half to extend their lead all the way to 34 points with 8:38 remaining. Aiding Iowa throughout the game was scoring 41 points off 26 Vaqueros turnovers.

In addition to Jok's performance, Iowa received a 15-point showing from freshman forward Tyler Cook, who shot 6-of-9 from the floor during his 24 minutes of playing time.

The Vaqueros had a trio of double-figure scorers in defeat. They were led by sophomore guard Antonio Green's 17 points, which came with five rebounds and four assists as well. Junior forward Mike Hoffman added 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and junior guard Nick Dixon also tallied 12 points, with the bulk of his scoring coming from the foul line, where he shot 6-of-7.

The Vaqueros play again Nov. 22 at Southeast Missouri State. As for the Hawkeyes, they will spend Thanksgiving weekend playing two games at the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Fla.

Iowa will face No. 8 Virginia in a semifinal contest on Nov. 25.
