Sophomore forward Dominic Green scored 20 points off the bench to help Washington roll to an 86-47 victory over Western Kentucky on Friday night in the opening round of the Global Sports Classic at Las Vegas, Nev.

Senior forward Malik Dime added 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots for the Huskies (4-1). Standout freshman guard Markelle Fultz contributed 10 assists and eight rebounds but scored just nine points on 3-of-14 shooting.

Freshman forward Sam Timmins collected a career-best 12 rebounds as Washington posted a 60-46 edge on the boards.

Senior forward Que Johnson scored 12 points to lead Western Kentucky (3-2). Senior forward Anton Waters added 11 points and senior guard Pancake Thomas tallied 10.

The Hilltoppers shot just 25.4 percent from the field, including 3 of 16 from 3-point range.

Washington plays the winner of Friday’s TCU-UNLV game on Saturday. Western Kentucky faces the loser of that contest.

The Hilltoppers trailed 44-37 after Johnson’s dunk with 17:35 to go before scoring just 10 points the rest of the way.

A 3-pointer by Green gave the Huskies a 52-39 lead with 14:42 to play and Dime’s basket made it a 15-point margin with 12:30 to go.

The Washington lead was 65-42 before freshman guard Tobias Howard scored with 7:41 left for Western Kentucky, the team’s last basket for more than seven minutes.

Meanwhile, the Huskies turned up the heat and rattled off the next 20 points to increase their lead to 41.

Howard connected on another shot with 25 seconds to play, ending the Hilltoppers’ scoring drought of 7:16

Fultz was just 1-of-9 shooting in the first half but the Huskies held a 38-31 lead at the break.

The contest was tied at 9-9 less than five minutes into it before Washington scored the next five -- including a 3-pointer by Fultz for his only points of the half.

The Huskies opened up an eight-point lead before the Hilltoppers fought back with six straight to trail 19-17 with 11:32 remaining in the half. Washington countered with the next eight points with sophomore forward Matisse Thybulle’s dunk making it 27-17 with 9:09 left.

Dime’s dunk gave the Huskies their largest lead of the half at 34-21 with 3:51 to play.
