Virginia Tech rallied with a late 14-2 run to defeat Chattanooga 63-58 in a nonconference game on Wednesday night in Blacksburg, Va.

Nahiem Alleyne led Virginia Tech (7-3) with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Landers Nolley II scored 19 points for the Hokies, and Wabissa Bede contributed seven points, seven assists and eight rebounds.

Stefan Kenic paced Chattanooga (6-5) with 16 points. David Jean-Baptiste had 14 points, and Ramon Vila added 12.

The Mocs led 51-47 with just over five minutes left in regulation, but Virginia Tech allowed just two points in the next 3 1/2 minutes to take a 56-53 lead with 1:46 left.

After Kenic scored on a put-back, Bede hit the game's biggest shot, a 3-pointer with 1:09 remaining, to give the Hokies a 59-53 cushion.

Virginia Tech pushed its lead to 61-53 with 35 seconds left, completing its decisive 14-2 run.

Chattanooga scored the next five points to pull within 61-58 with seven seconds to go. Alleyne then made two free throws with five seconds left to ice the win.

Chattanooga had led 18-15 with 10:24 left in the first half. Then, over the next 7:50, Virginia Tech clamped down on defense and limited the Mocs to just three points. A 15-3 run gave the Hokies a 30-21 lead with three minutes remaining before halftime.

Virginia Tech led 32-28 at the intermission, but then it was Chattanooga's turn to apply strong defensive pressure and change the tenor of the game.

The Mocs limited the Hokies to just four points in the first 7:30 of the second half, taking a 37-36 lead.

The Hokies shot just 39 percent from the field (23 of 59) and 28.6 percent from 3-point range (6 of 21). Chattanooga hit 41.5 percent of its field-goal attempts (22 of 53) and 9 of 27 shots from beyond the arc.
