Myles Powell scored 24 points and Sandro Mamukelashvili added 18, leading No. 13 Seton Hall to an 84-76 win over Iowa State in the fifth-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday night in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
The Pirates (6-2) finished with two wins in the tournament after losing the opener 71-69 to No. 11 Oregon. Powell scored a combined 74 points in the three games.
Powell made 7 of 10 shots in the second half Friday and put up 19 points in the period.
Rasir Bolton scored 20 points, Tyrese Haliburton added 19 and Prentiss Nixon had 15 for the Cyclones (4-3).
Iowa State took a 21-12 lead on a Haliburton jumper with 12:38 to go in the first half. The Cyclones made their first five shots of the game and nine of their first 12.
Seton Hall roared back to take a 32-29 lead after Mamukelashvili's 3-pointer with 1:13 left in the half.
A Myles Cale dunk off a bounce pass from Mamukelashvili gave the Pirates a 41-36 lead at the 17:47 mark of the second half, forcing a Cyclones timeout. Seton Hall opened the second half on a 9-3 run after trailing 33-32 at halftime.
For two minutes in the second half, the teams traded the lead six times. Then, as Haliburton went up for a driving layup with 11:03 to play, the lights in Imperial Arena at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort went completely out.
Haliburton was awarded the basket to make it 57-54 Seton Hall.
Nixon's baseline 3-pointer cut the Pirates' lead to 64-63 with 7:33 to go. However, that was as close as the Cyclones got the rest of the way, as Seton Hall made 60.6 percent of its second-half shots.
Nixon appeared to injure his left foot after backing into a table following a missed 3-point attempt with 4:53 to go, and he had to come out briefly. On Seton Hall's next possession, Mamukelashvili drilled a trey from the top of the circle for a 76-65 lead.
The two teams will face each other again in Ames, Iowa, on Dec. 8.
