Preseason All-American guard Jared Butler scored 20 points, shooting 4 of 7 from beyond the 3-point arc, to lead a balanced attack as No. 2 Baylor easily dispatched Washington 86-52 on Sunday at the Vegas Bubble in Las Vegas.

The Bears (2-0), who beat Louisiana 112-82 in their opener Saturday, were guided by associate coach Jerome Tang, who is filling in for Scott Drew on the bench. Drew didn't make the trip after testing positive for coronavirus.

Adam Flagler scored 17 for the Bears, MaCio Teague added 15 and Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua had 12 points and nine rebounds. Mark Vital added eight points and a game-high 15 rebounds as well as four assists. Davion Mitchell scored six points and had seven assists.

The Huskies (0-1) were led by RaeQuan Battle, who scored 10 points. Jamal Bey and Erik Stevenson, a transfer from Wichita State, each added eight points.

The Bears avenged a 67-64 loss to the Huskies in last season's opener in the Armed Forces Classic in Anchorage, Alaska.

That UW team was led by freshmen Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels, both of whom were first-round picks in the NBA draft earlier this month.

Without those two -- and senior Nahziah Carter, who was suspended in October for violating the athletic department's code of conduct -- the Huskies struggled in their opener.

Baylor scored 10 of the game's first 12 points and took a 25-5 lead midway through the first half on an alley-oop dunk by Tchamwa Tchatchoua.

The Huskies, despite shooting 8 of 26, pulled within 38-24 at the half.

The Bears opened the second half with a 15-5 run to restore their 20-plus-point lead and the Huskies never threatened.

Baylor shot 50.7 percent from the field (34 of 67), including 13 of 29 from 3-point range, while limiting the Huskies to 36.5 percent (19 of 52). The Bears had a 50-19 advantage in rebounds, giving them a 24-7 edge in second-chance points.
