Erik Stevenson scored 23 points and Tre Mitchell added a season-high 22 to help West Virginia earn an 85-67 victory over Oklahoma State on Monday in Morgantown, W.Va.

The Mountaineers (16-12, 5-10 Big 12) snapped a three-game losing streak. The Cowboys (16-12, 7-8) dropped their third consecutive game.

West Virginia took over the game for good in the first half, ripping off 16 consecutive points and extending the run to 20-2 as a two-point lead extended to 20 points by the time 2:30 remained.

Stevenson got hot during that stretch, scoring eight consecutive points, including hitting two 3-pointers.

While the Mountaineers' offense got going, Oklahoma State's lagged.

The Cowboys went more than eight minutes between field goals, missing eight consecutive shots.

Oklahoma State cut the deficit to as low as 13 midway through the second half, but that was the closest the Cowboys got after the first-half burst.

Stevenson finished 5 of 6 from 3-point range. Kedrian Johnson added 12 points for the Mountaineers.

West Virginia scored 28 points off the Cowboys' 18 turnovers while Oklahoma State scored just four off the Mountaineers' nine giveaways.

Caleb Asberry led the Cowboys with 15 points while Bryce Thompson, who left the game late due to a hamstring injury, added 14.

Oklahoma State shot just 2 of 19 from beyond the arc, tying a season low for 3-pointers. The Cowboys missed 15 3-point attempts in a row after hitting one early.

With just under 12 minutes remaining, Oklahoma State's Kalib Boone fell to the floor fighting for the ball with Mitchell.

As teammates gathered around, a scuffle broke out.

When the dust settled and the play was reviewed, Boone was called for a personal foul while both Boone and Mitchell were assessed technical fouls. The two fouls gave Boone five for the game, ending his involvement. The Cowboys' Woody Newton was also ejected for coming off the bench.

Boone, Oklahoma State's leading scorer, battled foul trouble from the start.

He picked up two fouls in the first 2:02 of the game, the second coming on the offensive end.

Boone picked up his third foul just over a minute into the second half. He finished with four points in six minutes.
