Ty Emberson scored and added an assist, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-0 victory over the host San Jose Sharks on Wednesday in the regular-season finale for both sides.
The Oilers (48-29-5, 101 points), the third-place team in the Pacific Division, will face the division rival Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Max Jones and Corey Perry had the other goals for Edmonton, which wrapped up the regular season 7-3-0 over its last 10 and reached the 100-point mark for the fourth consecutive season.
Stuart Skinner made 18 saves for his third shutout of the season. Three of his seven career shutouts have come in San Jose.
Edmonton swept the four-game season series, with the Oilers outscoring San Jose 13-6.
The Sharks (20-50-12, 52 points), last in the overall standings, wrapped up the regular season on an 11-game winless skid (0-8-3). Alexandar Georgiev stopped 25 shots.
Edmonton outshot San Jose San Jose 8-6 in the first period and led 1-0.
The Oilers opened the scoring on their first shot on goal as Emberson snapped a pass from Connor McDavid past Georgiev at 8:20 for his second goal of the season.
McDavid reached the 100-point mark for the fifth consecutive season and the eighth time in his career overall with the assist. The Oilers captain is just the fourth player in NHL history with at least eight career 100-point seasons, joining Wayne Gretzky (15), Mario Lemieux (10) and Marcel Dionne (eight). McDavid has 10 assists over his last four games.
Jones doubled Edmonton's lead at 10:17 of the second period, one-timing a feed from Adam Henrique past Georgiev for his first as a member of the Oilers.
Perry added an empty-netter with 2:37 remaining in the third.
Edmonton was without Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman and blue-liners Mattias Ekholm, Jake Walman and Darnell Nurse on Wednesday.
Nurse served his one-game suspension for a cross-check on Los Angeles Kings forward Quinton Byfield during Edmonton's 5-0 home-ice loss on Monday.
