Andy McDonald scored twice in regulation and Alex Steen netted the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout as the St. Louis Blues halted their four-game losing streak Monday with a 5-4 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Patrik Berglund recorded a goal and an assist, T.J. Oshie also tallied and Ben Bishop made 19 saves in relief for the Blues, who also stopped a three-game skid at home.
Jakub Voracek notched a goal and an assist, rookie Matt Calvert, Derek MacKenzie and defenseman Fedor Tyutin added a goal apiece and Steve Mason stopped 32 shots for Columbus, which went 0-3-2 on its five-game road trip.
After Tyutin extended the shootout by beating Bishop in the third round, Steen fired the puck between Mason's pads to give the Blues the edge. Bishop then denied Antoine Vermette to clinch only the second win in nine games for St. Louis.
Berglund gave St. Louis the lead 84 seconds into the game, but Columbus scored three goals on its first eight shots to chase Ty Conklin and move ahead. McDonald and Oshie converted power-play chances 75 seconds apart later in the first period to forge a 3-3 tie.
McDonald tucked the puck inside the right post at 6:53 of the second for his second goal of the night and 16th of the season to give the Blues a 4-3 edge. The advantage lasted less than four minutes as MacKenzie netted his fifth tally at 10:28.
