Chris Porter scored his first two goals of the season as the visiting St. Louis Blues cruised to a 10-3 rout of the struggling Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night.
Vladimir Sobotka and Chris Stewart collected a goal and two assists apiece for the Blues (35-32-10), who are 3-0-1 in their last four games.
B.J. Crombeen, Cam Janssen, Roman Polak, Patrik Berglund and Matt D’Agostini added a goal and an assist apiece for St. Louis, which received at least one point from 15 players in this one. Jaroslav Halak made 41 saves for the win.
Mike Modano, Todd Bertuzzi and Henrik Zetterberg scored for Central Division-leading Detroit (44-23-10), which has lost five of its last six games.
Janssen and Porter each scored their first goal of the season in the first period as the Blues seized a 3-2 lead. Since being acquired from the Colorado Avalanche, Stewart also scored his 14th goal in 21 games for the Blues.
D’Agostini and Crombeen added goals in the first 5:23 of the second period for a 5-2 lead. The Wings were outshot, 25-11, at the time and goalie Joey MacDonald was pulled in favor of Thomas McCollum, who made his NHL debut and gave up three goals on eight shots. MacDonald returned in the third period.
