Cogliano extended his goal-scoring streak to three games by snapping a 2-2 tie just 62 seconds into the third period. Veteran Saku Koivu recorded his 100th assist as a member of the Ducks after Cogliano tipped his shot past Howard.
After Ryan doubled the lead, Cogliano capped the scoring surge with an empty-net goal. Cogliano also scored four goals during his previous three-game scoring binge, which was recorded from March 7-11, 2008.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Detroit C Pavel Datsyuk missed the contest with what GM Ken Holland called a nagging upper-body injury. Emery accomplished the feat with Ottawa from March 21, 2003-Nov. 19, 2005. ... The Red Wings failed to record an official shot on their first two power plays.
