Oilers 6, Blackhawks 5: Sam Gagner scored twice while Taylor Hall and defenseman Ryan Whitney each had a goal and an assist as visiting Edmonton jumped out to a four-goal lead and held on to hand Chicago its second consecutive regulation loss.

Mike Brown and captain Shawn Horcoff also tallied while Yann Danis made 21 saves in relief for the Oilers, who improved to 2-4-2 on their franchise-record nine-game road trip after being shut out in their previous two contests. Danis entered with 10:15 remaining in the second period after Devan Dubnyk, who allowed two goals on 13 shots, suffered an apparent neck injury when teammate Teemu Hartikainen crashed into him.

Patrick Kane recorded two goals and an assist, Marian Hossa added one of each and defensemen Sheldon Brookbank and Brent Seabrook also scored for the Blackhawks, who began the season with an NHL-record 24-game point streak before losing in Colorado on Friday.

Edmonton, which was blanked in Detroit and Nashville on Thursday and Friday, respectively, grabbed a 2-0 lead three minutes into the game as Brown and Gagner scored 36 seconds apart. Whitney and Gagner tallied midway through the first to double the advantage before Chicago answered on goals by Kane and Hossa less than eight minutes into the second.

Horcoff and Hall sandwiched power-play goals around Brookbank's short-handed tally later in the session to make it 6-3, as Edmonton finished 3-for-4 with the man advantage. Seabrook ripped a slap shot past Danis with 2:48 left in the second and Kane converted a cross-slot pass from Dave Bolland during a power play at 7:06 of the third, but the Blackhawks were unable to get the equalizer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Edmonton RW Ales Hemsky returned to the lineup after missing one game with a foot injury and notched an assist. Horcoff, who had missed the previous 15 contests with a broken knuckle, tied Doug Weight for ninth place on the franchise list with 157 goals. ... Chicago G Corey Crawford took the loss after allowing three goals on 16 shots in relief of Ray Emery, who was pulled after stopping only six of nine shots. ... The Blackhawks will not play at home again until March 25 as they begin a four-game road trip Thursday in Columbus.
