Rangers 5, Flyers 2: Derek Stepan recorded a career-best four-point performance and Rick Nash scored his 300th goal before netting an insurance tally in the third period as visiting New York defeated Philadelphia for the 11th time in 12 outings.

Stepan finished with a goal and three assists and Brad Richards and Chris Kreider also scored. Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 32 shots for the Rangers, who improved to 3-1-1 in their last five games and presented John Tortorella with his 400th coaching victory.

Wayne Simmonds scored a power-play goal despite taking a puck to the face earlier in the second period. Jakub Voracek was hit in the neck as he scored 6:28 into the third and Ilya Bryzgalov made 26 saves for the Flyers, who have dropped seven of their last nine games (2-6-1).

Nash converted a centering feed to open the scoring with 5:06 remaining in the first period and Richards doubled the advantage with a one-timer from beyond the right faceoff circle at 3:14 of the second. Stepan gave New York a 3-0 edge just 2 1/2 minutes later after deftly deflecting Nash's shot before tapping the puck past Bryzgalov.

Voracek trimmed the Rangers' lead to 3-2 after captain Claude Giroux's shot caromed off him and trickled past Lundqvist. Nash answered 74 seconds later after his wraparound beat Bryzgalov for his team-leading 12th goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tortorella became the 30th coach in NHL history to reach 400 wins. He has 161 with the Rangers. ... Stepan recorded a trio of three-point performances during the 2011-12 season - with the last coming on a three-assist effort versus New Jersey on Dec. 20. ...
