Coyotes 4, Red Wings 2: Defenseman Michael Stone snapped a tie late in the third period to lift Phoenix to its first road win.

Antoine Vermette, Mikkel Boedker and defenseman Derek Morris had a goal and an assist apiece for the Coyotes, who are three contests into a five-game road trip that includes four Eastern Conference opponents. Mike Smith made 28 saves for Phoenix.

Joakim Andersson and defenseman Jonathan Ericsson scored and Jimmy Howard finished with 34 saves for Detroit, which has dropped two in a row.

Morris opened the scoring 2:21 into the first period on a point shot through traffic. Andersson and Ericsson scored 53 seconds apart to give Detroit the lead six minutes into the second period, but Boedker knotted the contest 64 seconds later.
