Bruins 4, Canadiens 2: Carl Soderberg collected a goal and two assists while linemate Loui Eriksson added one of each as host Boston seized a 3-2 advantage in its Eastern Conference second-round series.

Reilly Smith and Jarome Iginla scored power-play goals 32 seconds apart early in the second period and Tuukka Rask finished with 29 saves for the Presidents' Trophy-winning Bruins, who look to wrap up the series in Montreal on Monday. Boston went 2-for-4 with the man advantage after failing to score on all eight of its previous opportunities in the series and 37 straight postseason chances against the Canadiens.

The Bruins drew first blood 13:20 into the first period as Eriksson backhanded a centering feed toward the slot for Soderberg, who wristed a shot past Carey Price (26 saves) for his first career postseason goal. Boston then made Tomas Plekanec pay for a pair of penalties, scoring twice in short order to claim a 3-0 advantage.

With Plekanec whistled for goaltender interference late in the first, the Bruins cashed in at 1:04 of the second as defenseman Dougie Hamilton's shot from the point caromed off the skate of Smith and between the pads of Price. Plekanec found himself back in the box following a high-sticking call, and blue-liner Torey Krug's brilliant backhand pass from along the right-wing boards found Iginla, who one-timed a shot from the left faceoff circle past Price.

Plekanec tried to atone for his costly penalties by setting up a deflection by Brendan Gallagher during a power play at 14:39 of the second for Montreal's first goal. Eriksson restored the three-goal lead with 5:48 to play in the third by cleaning up the rebound of rookie Matt Fraser's bid before Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban capped the scoring with a man-advantage goal with 2:29 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Smith's power-play goal was the team's first in the playoffs against the Canadiens since April 18, 2009. ... Montreal RW Brandon Prust returned to the lineup after sitting out the previous two games as a healthy scratch. Prust replaced veteran C Daniel Briere but did not record a shot in 8:28 of ice time. ... Canadiens D Andrei Markov notched two assists. ... Hall-of-Famer Bobby Orr was in attendance at TD Garden.
