Stars 2, Flames 1: Captain Jamie Benn scored a goal and set up another as visiting Dallas handed Calgary its seventh consecutive loss.
Defenseman Trevor Daley also tallied for the Stars, who extended their winning streak to three contests. Cody Eakin notched a pair of assists and Kari Lehtonen made 21 saves as Dallas improved to 2-0-0 on its three-game road trip.
Captain Mark Giordano scored the lone goal for the Flames, who have recorded a total of five over their last five games and fewer than three in all but one contest during their skid. Jonas Hiller turned aside 19 shots.
After a scoreless first period, Dallas grabbed the lead four minutes into the second on Benn's first goal in 10 games. Eakin won a faceoff in the left circle and Tyler Seguin grabbed the puck and backhanded a shot that Hiller denied, but Benn corralled the rebound and buried a backhander.
Benn helped double the advantage at 11:54, firing a cross-slot pass that Daley converted from the right circle. Calgary got within one with 1:15 remaining in the session as Giordano kept the puck in the zone at the left point and fired it past a screened Lehtonen.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Seguin's assist on Benn's goal was his league-leading 39th point. ... The Stars have won five of their last six games, allowing a total of five goals in the victories and an identical amount in the loss. ... Flames C Jiri Hudler had his four-game point streak snapped.
