Ducks 6, Flames 3: Defenseman Ben Lovejoy registered a goal and an assist as Anaheim extended its home winning streak against Calgary to an astounding 20 games.
Kyle Palmieri, Patrick Maroon, former Flame Tim Jackman and captain Ryan Getzlaf also scored for the Ducks, who enter the All-Star break with a five-game overall winning streak. Ryan Kesler added an empty-netter, Nate Thompson and Corey Perry each notched a pair of assists and Frederik Andersen made 30 saves to improve to 16-2-1 in his last 19 decisions.
Sean Monahan extended his goal-scoring streak to four games while Mikael Backlund and Joe Colborne also tallied for the Flames, who had their four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 0-15-5 at Honda Center since winning on Jan. 19, 2004. Lance Bouma recorded two assists and Joni Ortio allowed four goals on 11 shots before being replaced by former Duck Jonas Hiller, who finished with 14 saves.
Anaheim built a 3-0 lead over the first 20 minutes despite being outshot 10-8. Palmieri converted a feed from Matt Beleskey at 4:41 and Lovejoy had his shot from the right point deflected past Ortio by Maroon with five minutes remaining before his wrister from above the right faceoff circle glanced off Calgary defenseman Kris Russell's glove and into the top left corner of the net just over two minutes later.
Jackman increased the advantage at 9:37 of the second period with a shot from the right faceoff dot, chasing Ortio in the process. Backlund got the Flames on the board 96 seconds later and Monahan cut the deficit to 4-2 by beating Andersen to the glove side from the slot with 48 seconds left in the session before Getzlaf and Colborne traded tallies midway through the third.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Anaheim's 20-game home winning streak versus Calgary matches the fourth-longest run of its kind in NHL history. The Ducks are three away from tying Philadelphia's all-time record of 23 straight home victories over Pittsburgh (Feb. 17, 1980-Jan. 29, 1987). ... Palmieri's goal was his third in five games while Maroon's tally gave him five points in his last three contests. ... Backlund has recorded five goals in seven games since returning from an upper-body injury. ... Calgary completed a 1-4-0 road trip.
