Drew Miller and captain Henrik Zetterberg also scored while Ryan Sheahan added two assists for the Red Wings, who have scored 20 times in the last four contests. Petr Mrazek turned aside 37 shots to win his fifth consecutive decision as Detroit held off a rally by the Panthers to extend their winless streak to five (0-4-1).
Aleksander Barkov collected a goal and two assists while Nick Bjugstad recorded one of each for Florida. Brandon Pirri and Brad Boyes also tallied, rookie defenseman Aaron Ekblad notched two assists and fellow All-Star Roberto Luongo allowed five goals on 17 shots before being replaced by Al Montoya, who made 10 saves.
Miller scored on a short-handed breakaway 8:06 into the contest, but Barkov answered from the bottom of the right faceoff circle during a 5-on-3 power play 62 seconds later. Pirri beat Mrazek from the right circle at 10:16 for another man-advantage goal before Zetterberg was left alone in front to tie the game 32 seconds into the middle session.
Glendening flipped in a rebound at 7:07 for a 3-2 lead and beat Luongo from in front at 11:19 after Sheahan set up Weiss at the left post less than three minutes earlier. Bjugstad converted a power-play opportunity with 4 1/2 minutes left in the second and Barkov set up Boyes' tally with 9:06 remaining to cut Florida's deficit to one.
