Mikael Granlund scored the tiebreaking goal at 14:12 of the third period as the Minnesota Wild defeated the host Edmonton Oilers 4-3 Tuesday night.
Granlund's power-play goal, assisted by Eric Staal and Ryan Suter, gave the Wild their only lead of the game and helped them improve to 1-1-0 on their season-high, seven-game trip. Minnesota had a five-game winning streak snapped in a 5-2 loss Monday at Vancouver.
Granlund, who also had an assist, extended his points streak to nine games. He has six goals and six assists during the run.
Zach Parise, Jared Spurgeon and Staal also scored for Minnesota, and Alex Stalock, making just his third appearance of the season, stopped 34 shots. The Wild went 3 for 3 on the power play.
Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid and Alex Chiasson scored for Edmonton, which had its three-game winning streak snapped. Goaltender Cam Talbot made 24 saves.
The teams went back and forth for the first two periods, the Oilers scoring first and the Wild responding each time. The score was tied 1-1 after the first and 3-3 after the second.
Draisaitl opened the scoring at 8:11 of the first, off assists from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Oscar Klefbom. Parise tied it at 14:08 of the period with a power-play goal off an Edmonton turnover deep in the defensive zone, assisted by Matt Dumba and Nino Niederreiter.
McDavid gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead at 4:10 of the second, taking a pass from Kris Russell and breaking free on a 2-on-2 break. McDavid skated down the right wing, deked Wild defenseman Suter and flipped a shot over Stalock and into the top netting.
Spurgeon tied it at 12:18, off assists from Staal and Niederreiter, sparking a late second-period run of goals.
The Oilers regained the lead less than a minute later as Chiasson redirected Matt Benning's shot from the point at 13:11. Draisaitl also got an assist.
Staal tallied the Wild's second power-play goal of the game, a tip-in at 18:20, to tie the score entering the third period. Suter and Granlund got assists. It was Staal's 399th career goal.
