Leon Draisaitl recorded a goal and an assist and Tyler Ennis scored his first goal of the season in the Edmonton Oilers' 3-1 victory over the host Ottawa Senators on Monday.
Edmonton improved to 3-0-0 against the Senators this season. After outscoring Ottawa by a 12-7 margin in the first two meetings, the Oilers received far more of a challenge Monday from the young Senators.
With the game deadlocked 6:09 into the third period, Ennis broke the tie with an impressive toe-drag move to beat a defenseman. The veteran forward then fired a close-range wrist shot past Senators goalie Matt Murray.
Ennis returned to the Oilers' lineup Monday after Gaetan Haas was placed on injured reserve. Ennis has shuttled back and forth from the taxi squad this season, appearing in only six games.
Draisaitl extended his points streak to 10 games. The reigning Hart Trophy winner has 20 total points (eight goals, 12 assists) over the course of his streak, with nine of those points coming in three games against Ottawa.
Josh Archibald scored an empty-net goal for Edmonton 18:50 into the third period.
Connor McDavid extended his points streak to 10 games with an assist on Archibald's goal. McDavid has 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) over his past 10 games.
Evgenii Dadonov was given official credit for the Senators' only goal of the game. Oilers defenseman Adam Larsson accidentally put the puck in his own net at 5:33 into the second period while he and Dadonov were fighting for possession.
Mike Smith stopped 27 of 28 shots to win his season debut. Smith missed the Oilers' first 13 games due to injury.
Murray saved 32 of 34 shots for Ottawa.
Edmonton's Zack Kassian left the game with an apparent injury after a fight with Erik Gudbranson early in the first period. It was one of two fights between the Oilers and Senators in the opening two minutes, as tensions were high as the teams played for the third time in nine days.
The fourth meeting between the clubs takes place Tuesday in Ottawa.
