Toronto led 3-1 after the first period.

Toronto took advantage of a Washington mistake in the corner to take the lead at 2:35. Martin Fehervary failed to control the puck and Marner pounced on it and fed Bunting, who scored his 19th goal of the season on a high shot from the low slot.

Washington came close at 5:57 of the first when the puck trickled past Mrazek after Garnet Hathaway's deflection, but a video review showed it did not completely cross the goal line.

Sheary scored his 12th goal, deflecting Nicklas Backstrom's shot at 16:23.

Forechecking by Tavares behind the net set up Nylander, who scored his 21st goal from the right edge of the crease at 18:49.

Holl scored his second goal of the season when jammed home a loose puck in the crease at 19:58.

Wilson scored on a power play at 10:11 of the second period when he deflected Alex Ovechkin's shot. Engvall was off for tripping.

Wilson tied the game with a short-handed goal at 1:44 of the third period, shooting from the left circle on a 2-on-1 break for his 17th goal of the season.

Sandin scored his third goal this season at 16:37 of the third on a shot from the left circle, converting Holl's cross-ice pass.
